Club Meeting

Ricky’s Chicken, a presentation by Larry Smith.  This is the story of a poor Filipino boy, Ricky Gaytanno, who gives up his most precious possession – his chicken – wanting to repay the Smith family for paying his school fees so that he can attend school. Included are the stories of three boys suffering from cleft palettes and lips who were corrected through the efforts of the Smith’s daughter, Amber, and the effect it has had on her life. The four boys all lived on the tiny Filipino island of Boracay.  Boracay is a small island (one mile by five miles) in the central Philippines. It’s known for its resorts, palm trees, and white beaches, but not back when this story took place.
